Cronulla Surf Life Saving Club was founded in 1907, with the founding members using an old tram carriage for the first clubhouse. Since then we have progressed through numerous sheds and buildings, with the origins of today’s clubhouse and sports complex dating back to the 1950’s, and undergoing further renovations and additions up until the present day. The Club’s History Committee meets on a regular basis to compile the history of our club. The members of this committee have established an archive room within the clubhouse, which is available to all members to peruse. Please enquire at the club office if you are interested and our staff will put you in touch with the History Committee Convener.
To celebrate and commemorate our first centenary in 2007, the committee produced a 400 page book on the history of Cronulla SLSC. It is a mammoth project, documenting the first 100 years of our club’s glorious past. The centenary book is available for purchase , please download the order form below. A member of Cronulla SLSC can be proud of the fact that they belong to one of the oldest, most esteemed and successful surf clubs in the world.
Our lifesaving and competition achievements over the decades have been exceptional and have set the standards for other clubs to aspire to. Carrying the successes and traditions of our club into the future will depend on our ability to foster members of good character and decency, guided by the history that is so much a part of our club.
